NEWS | Wednesday, 12 March 2008 Michael Falzon indicates his intention to stand for leader Insiders have told MaltaToday that Michael Falzon, the MLP deputy leader for party affairs, has told his closest of confidants he intends standing for leader of the Labour party.
Falzon, who was elected from two districts, has been responsible for the electoral responsibilities of the party. Though popular with delegates, many party activists don’t think that he will bring all the factions of the party together. Party activists are now also looking at the most viable triumvirate as being that of Evarist Bartolo, Joseph Muscat and Gavin Gulia, even though the latter failed to get elected. Insiders told MaltaToday that Gulia could be co-opted. Bartolo had also faced Michael Falzon in the contest for the post of Labour deputy leader for party affairs, but lost out. Any comments? |
