The chairman and CEO of ship chandling firm Salvo Grima Group, Robert C. Aquilina, has been appointed the chairman for the Malta Shipyards.
Robert C. Aquilina will replace former shipyards chairman John Cassar White whose resignation for personal reasons was accepted recently by Investments Minister Austin Gatt.
Following Cabinet approval of his recommendation, Gatt appointed Aquilina as non-executive Chairman of Malta Shipyards Limited.
Aquilina received his education at St Aloysius’ College, Birkirkara and joined the family business shortly thereafter.
Aquilina is today the chairman and CEO of the Salvo Grima Group, which he has effectively headed for most of his adult life, and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
He served for six years on the council of the International Marine Purchasers’ Association is the capacity of Vice President and, amongst other involvements, as a director of VISET plc.
Aquilina has also served on the boards of Enemalta Corporation and the Malta Resources Authority.
