Drug finds and mugging on first day of the year

The partying season for the end-of-year celebrations has brought with it a number of arrests, with ten young men being arrested over possession of cocaine and ecstasy.
In the first of arrests for the new year, ten men aged between 16 and 22 were arrested after drugs were discovered during searches police held in entertainment establishments in Paceville. Police have claimed that in three of the ecstasy finds, the drugs were intended to be trafficked.
The men hailed from Qormi, Bormla, Isla, Zabbar, Zurrieq, Valletta, Gzira, and Mellieha.
In another incident, a 29-year-old Somali man will be today arraigned in court over a mugging in St Julians.
The man is being accused of having stolen the handbag of a 51-year-old woman in Borg Olivier Street. After being informed of the incident, the police patrolled the area and, upon seeing the police, the man tried to escape. He was caught in Birkirkara Hill.
