Sarah Manguso on campus
Award winning American poet and short story writer will hold a poetry reading on Wednesday at the KSU Common Room at 8pm. Her visit is generously sponsored by the US Embassy in Malta. Loathe launch EP
Loathe will be launching their 3rd EP, ‘Darkest Night of the Soul’ at Remedy Bar, Paceville. Doors open at 9.30pm. Entrance is Lm2 or free on purchase of EP. Newcomers Insurgence will be the opening act for the night. Loathe will then visit the UK next December, where they will be sharing the stage with acts like Sabbat, Evile, Detonation, Sevenyearsdead, Let ‘Em Burn and Life Denied.

Groovin’ High
Four local performers will team up to interpret a selection of well known numbers which will appeal especially to jazz music lovers. Featuring Marc Galea on guitar, Joe Vella on double bass, Adrian Galea on drums and Nadine Axisa on vocals. Concerts start at 8.30pm and tickets are at Lm4. Operetta and musical
The Malta Union Club in Tigne Street, Sliema, will be presenting an evening of operetta and modern musicals. Participants will include sopranos Karen Camilleri and Claire Caruana, mezzo soprano Connie Francis Zerafa, tenor George Saliba, and baritones Joe Huber and Joe Fenech; Cynthia Genovese will be accompanying the singers at the piano, whilst Claude Gaffiero will compere. Tickets at Lm3.50 can be purchased from the Malta Union Club’s Secretariat in Tigne Street, Sliema, or by phoning 21332011/2. Parking facilities for non-members will be made available at the near-by CCCP multi-storey car park at 131 High Street, Sliema, at a preferential fee for concert-ticket holders.

Peklectrick
Former Dripht guitarist Patrick will be launching the first album from his solo project, ‘Reclaiming Space’ at Rookies Bar Bugibba. The tunes for the night will be provided by DJ Noel Agius. Doors open at 9pm. www.myspace.com/reclaimingspace

Lucrezia Borgia
Lemonhead Productions will be putting up an original piece, written by Bryan Muscat, based on the notorious figure of Lucrezia Borgia. The play is directed by Noel Tanti and will be held at St James Cavalier. Cast includes Michelle Bonnici, Neville Refalo and Sandro Vella.

Goran Cejkov at Artitude
Goran Cejkov, a Macedonian painter and sculptor, will be exhibiting his latest works at Artitude Gallery until the end of November. The exhibition will feature a series of paintings depicting Maltese architecture, particularly churches and other heritage buildings. Cejkov uses a very stylized form of abstraction when preparing his works, which is later complimented with a very photographic image of the subject portrayed.

Artworks
Artworks, an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Alfred Briffa and Lawrence Buttigieg will be on display until November 23 at Gallery G, Lija. The works on display will include portraits, nudes and landscapes.
Both artists are drawn towards the human form, a quality clearly discernible in their nudes and the urge to grasp on canvas the local milieu, noticeable in their landscapes.
Gallery G’s exhibition halls and Gallery shop (No 4, Sir Ugo Mifsud Street, Lija) are open to the public between 9:00am and 5:00pm weekdays and 9:30am hrs and 12:30pm on Saturdays.

Untitled Exhibition
A one-day exhibition by architect Chris Briffa at 157, Old Theatre Street, Valletta will put on display an array of original objects which he has designed over the past two years, fusing furniture with art. The exhibition is an attempt to augment a connection between beauty and function, and uses sketches and their frames as the tools to create this relationship. The exhibition will be on display from 10am to 7pm.

Caravaggio: l’Immagine del Divino
An exhibition of original masterpieces of Caravaggio, organised by Heritage Malta and Romartificio Eventi d’Arte. At the Salon in the National Museum of Archaeology, Valletta. Open Monday to Sunday from 9.00am - 7.00pm (last admission at 6.30pm).

A white chapel for a white dance
An exhibition of paintings by Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci at the Contemporary Hall of the National Museum of Fine Arts, Valletta. Open Monday to Sunday from 9.00am to 5.00pm (Last Admission 4.30pm).

Analogue
An exhibition of pioneering video art from UK, Canada and Poland from 1968 to 1988, at the Upper Galleries of St James Cavalier, Valletta.
Through a series of exhibitions, screenings, performances and discussions Analogue, aims to illuminate the early histories of artists’ video, linking the work of artists in the UK, Canada and Poland in order to broaden an understanding of how, in the course of thirty years, a versatile and politically charged medium made the transition from the margins to the mainstream of contemporary practice.

Outofprint
Art exhibition organised by Warti at Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Merchant’s Street, Valletta. Works by 14 different artists will be on display, the mediums used a variety of printing techniques; Xylography, dry point, etching, relief lithography, serigraphy and monotype transfer. Open Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 5pm.

Caravaggio and Paintings of Realism in Malta
The long-awaited exhibition will be held at the St John’s Co-Cathedral Annex, Valletta as part of the Caravaggio 400 celebrations, marking Caravaggio’s presence in Malta.
Caravaggio’s ‘Portrait of a Knight’, which the Baroque master painted while on the island, will be the highlight of this showcase.

December 30
Malta’s Mediterranean Trilogy: Bread, Oil and Wine
An exhibition organised by Heritage Malta as part of the EU programme Trimed. At the Ta’ Kola Windmill, Xaghra Gozo. Open Monday to Sunday from 9.00am - 5.00pm (last admission at 4.30pm).

Quiz Nights
Quiz Nights held at Ciao Frà, Xemxija. Entrance next to Beachaven. Every Thursday at 9.00pm, tables team up to fill in a self-completion quiz pack of 40 general knowledge and current affairs questions.
