2007 - Thumbs up or down?

It was the best of years, it was the worst of years, it was… oh stuff it. Sabrina Agius and David Darmanin take a stroll through the streets of Sliema, to find out what kind of a year 2007 was for passers-by

It’s been a good year, nothing bad really happened. Every year is pretty much the same for me.
Rachel Laus, 22, Sales Girl

This has been my first year working, and all in all I used to enjoy it more before, since I was freer and more relaxed. I can’t complain though, it’s been a good year otherwise.
Jean-Marc Galea, 20, Deli Assistant

It’s been a terrible year. Business went down the drain. I’ve been seeing business dwindle in the past years but I don’t think I ever saw it so bad.
Francesco Toledo, 41, works in catering

This has been a good year – in health, work and happiness. The only thing I wish for is for more peace around the world.
Dr Fiorella Camilleri De Marco, 48, Lawyer
It was an easy 2007. Nothing out of the norm happened. When you have a family you just have to work harder. However, I have nothing to complain about. I hope to have a better 2008.... one always wishes for the better.
Anthony Fabri, 47 handyman

2007 was pretty relaxed. I changed to a better job so that was something positive.
Melchior Borg 24, Customer care

It was an interesting year, in which I met a couple of new people. I had many changes going on. I would also say that it was an adventurous year. I had a car accident, so have to buy a new car in 2008. I hope to drive more carefully in 2008.
Stephen Pace, 22, Customer care

All in all I don’t think this was a happy year for me. I moved to London with my family and stopped studying. It’s been an eventful year and it was rather stressful. What has been positive was that these experiences have helped me become more mature.
Aleta Tabone, 17, works in insurance

I would say this was a very bad year indeed. I had to take my wife in England and she was operated there.
Ronnie Gaffiero, 64, Pensioner

We had both good and bad things happening. We had some health problems and a bit of unwanted trouble. However nothing major to complain about. As for 2008, one wishes for a better health life
Charles and Judith Borg, 70, Pensioners

As for the tourism industry I must say that it was pretty fine excluding these last few months. However as for the rest, I’m satisfied.
Joe Abdilla, 57, Managing Director

I had a normal 2007. Taking care of my four kids and spending time with them.
Nadine Theuma, 26, Housewife

The bad thing is that I had a car accident. The positive thing is that I bought a new car.
Mary Said, 50, Salesgirl

I became a grandmother so it’s the best thing that could ever happen to me. I had some hospital issues, but overall I don’t complain.
Violet Attard, 48, Salesgirl
