Events company investigated for paying workers below minimum

72 employees at events company MK Leisure were found to be working below minimum wage. The company, based at the Montekristo Estates in Siggiewi, was investigated by the Employment and Industrial Relations Unit for the employment of part-timers at wages below the minimum rate. The matter was settled according to the law.
The EIRU also settled similar cases at Bianco’s, Eastpack Wear, Pineapple Boutique, and Captain Morgan Cruises. The unit is still investigating similar cases at Scruples Too, 4 YOU, and Il-Kastell wine bar, according to the PQ. A total of 15 workers at these establishments were reportedly found being paid at rates below the minimum wage.
