Customs seize more alcohol, cigarettes

Customs yesterday seized more contraband cigarettes and alcohol from commercial establishments and Monti hawkers.
Last week, customs officials seized over 60 litres of alcohol from a Balzan establishment, which had not paid excise on them.
Last Sunday, customs officials confronted a hawker on the Valletta Monti after noticing he was passing on a suspicious packet to a client. The officials carried a search and found six packets of 200 cigarettes each, which were confiscated on the spot. Investigations are under way.
