Court orders online poker servers to be taken offline

The First Hall Civil Court of Malta has handed down a judgment in favour of PokerTrillion.com, authorising the seizure of Boss Media Malta Limited and Boss Media AB servers, which will now have to cease commercial activity from 18 September 2008.
The court’s decision in this matter is final and Boss Media will not be allowed to appeal.
The ruling by Judge Gino Camilleri relates to Trillion Limited’s multi-million euro lawsuit for breach of contract against Boss Media AB and their associated companies.
Back in April, PokerTrillion.com achieved a freezing order of the bank accounts of Boss Holdings and Boss Media Malta Poker at seven of the banks where they hold accounts. The freezing order was made in conjunction with a €45 million lawsuit for alleged fraudulent, and potential criminal activities of various personnel and management of Boss Media, and associated companies in Sweden and Malta.
PokerTrillion.com is an online poker room which used Boss Media’s gaming solutions to offer online poker services to their customers using their own branded version of the Boss Poker product.
PokerTrillion.com CEO, Andy Pyrah, said: “The decision will in effect bring down Boss Media’s operation in their licensed jurisdiction of Malta on September 18, and any partner still on the Boss (IPN) Poker Network at this stage will see their service closed down too”.
The judge has further ordered the cosignatory now responsible for the servers to provide full accounts of the revenues being generated from this equipment.
