The corpse of a Birkirkara woman, 50, was yesterday morning recovered from beneath the cliffs at Dingli, after a local fisherman reported sighting it to the Armed Forces of Malta's Operations' Centre at Luqa Barracks.
The fisherman reported the find at 6:40am whilst in his boat, and barely a few metres away from the nearby shoreline beneath the air traffic control radar station located on top of the cliffs.
The corpse was initially thought to be a tourist in her mid-30s, and was subsequently recovered at 8:30am by the Maritime Squadron’s Swift-class patrolboat P-24, and later landed at the Squadron’s Haywharf base.
Further investigations revealed that the woman was Maltese.
A magisterial inquiry is expected to be appointed to ascertain the circumstances of her death.
The woman is around 5 feet 6, of medium build, short reddish-brown hair and light brown eyes.
