NEWS | Sunday, 24 February 2008 ‘We will demolish Sant’ Antnin plant’ - AN Sabrina Agius Azzjoni Nazzjonali, in a coalition with either of the two larger parties, will insist on demolishing the waste management plant in Marsaskala, despite the fact that AN deputy leader had himself tendered for the same facility back in 2001.
Asked specifically by this newspaper whether he believes that, by demolishing the Sant’Antin’s plant, EU funds would literally be thrown down the drain, AN leader Dr Josie Muscat replied that “(the plant) was built against people’s consent. Yes, I agree that this should be demolished.” The AN leader insisted that the Sant’Antnin plant, as well as the fish-farms in the vicinity, devalued property in Marsakala, and also detracted from the area’s tourist attraction: this first and foremost due to the bad odours. As in the case of Tigne’, AN is also proposing another yacht marina in Marsaskala, so that “boats would have more order”. Any comments?
