Delays in returning litter bins to Floriana

Allow me to point out that the dark green litter bins in Floriana that were removed due to his Holiness Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Malta on 17 April have not yet been put back in place.
When I contacted the ‘Cleansing Services Department’ (Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs) on 28 April, I was told that they will not be returned before the next three weeks at least, since new ones were expected from abroad.
One wonders whether the ‘Environmental Upgrade Committee’ (Office of the Prime Minister) will send photos of rubbish accumulated due to this pig-headed policy to the Department for Local Government, as it usually does when it rushes into print.
