Policeman suspended over alleged theft

A police officer, whose name cannot be published by Court order, has been suspended from the Police Force after being arraigned for theft.
The officer was working as an extra on the film set for an advert for Bacardi, being filmed in Malta.
Sources told MaltaToday that three bags went missing from the film set, one of which contained a mobile phone belonging to an employee of a mobile phone company.
Using its tracking device technology, the company managed to locate the stolen phone, reportedly leading it to the police officer.
The Police’s customer relations unit confirmed with this newspaper that the police officer was arraigned in Court by way of arrest on 30 July. He was charged with aggravated theft.
