Delimara bidder files EC complaint

Israeli firm Bateman has written to the European Commission claiming irregularities in the award of a €200 million contract for the extension of the Delimara power station, awarded to Danish firm BWSC.
The Commission has already written to the Maltese government. The government has replied that, despite having had the right to appeal the decision by the Contracts Department, none of the tenderers ever filed such an appeal.
Bateman, which had the cheapest offer and claims to have offered a more environmentally-friendly technology, said it will be following up its complaint with the European Commission. It also said that it was never informed of the final decision of the Contracts department, and that it could not appeal the decision.
