The Bishop may turn the other cheek

I refer to Raphael Vassallo’s article in the July 26 issue of MaltaToday, attacking a Bishop for doing his expected duty. This columnist, who has the name of an archangel, is obviously a vassal of dark spirits that are eternally enraged by the sound values promulgated by the Catholic Church.
It is obvious from his pathetic attempt to ridicule the bishop that this man is personally frustrated by the Church’s teachings and is intellectually desperate for a cogent argument to confute them.
It is a shame that he finds it necessary to try to convert others, possibly even less perspicacious, to his shallow way of thinking.
The Church has survived vicious persecution by mighty empires; so Raphael and his likes will not prevail against it by writing pseudo-clever satires.
By turning the other cheek, Jesus overcame the world that tried to destroy him; so our bishop is in good company and will conquer evil as he soldiers on, unabashed and undeterred by the malicious arrows thrown at him by, let’s face it, nonentities with a personal agenda.
