Muscat calls for unity over celebration of National Feasts
Charlot Zahra Labour Leader Joseph Muscat has called for national unity over the celebration of National Feasts.
In a short speech last night before the Freedom Day Monument in Vittoriosa on the occasion of the 31st anniversary, Muscat recalled that in last year’s Freedom Day Speech, he had already spoken about the need for more national unity.
“For me, Independence Day, Republic Day and Freedom Day are the sons of the same mother,” Muscat told the crowd gathered for this year’s Freedom Day Celebration, which was curtailed by the PL in view of the religious festivities later this week.
“They are those sons who have been not speaking for quite some time but if you cut their veins, the same blood will come out,” the Labour added, drawing further on the motherhood analogy
“All Maltese are ready to cry ‘Viva Malta Independenti, Viva Malta Repubblika, Viva Malta Ħielsa!’,” Muscat ended his three-minute speech – the part which hardcore Labour supporters might find difficult to stomach.
