KSU should accept democratic changes

Zminijietna – Voice of the Left is highly concerned about the democratic credentials that exist in KSU, whereby the current system totally eliminates other opinions and voices in the Council. KSU should help to assure an open and a representative system. This applies also to Junior College.
Zminijietna – Voice of the Left appeals to KSU to change the current voting system, so the end result next Thursday is a fully representative University Council. The present system, as it stands today is outdated as it benefits only the chosen few from the elite, while other contestants are excluded.
“It’s a shame that KSU executives blocked a motion in last annual general meeting for a change in the present voting system. At the same time we are satisfied that a broad alliance of students’ organizations laid pressure for a change to this antiquated system. It is a pity that next Thursday KSU elections will not produce a fully representative council.
“We are also expecting KSU to apologise with all university students for having allowed Angelo Micallef to make use of KSU board room, to hold an interview with Norman Lowell, a person who embraces racist and xenophobic ideology”.
