Reporting on Tonio Fenech

Kindly allow me to refer to the unsigned article ‘Bi Pjacir’ (8 November, 2009) by remarking that it is, or should now be, evident that a smear (character assassination) attempt is being conducted against Tonio Fenech. To my mind, this campaign will simply backfire due to the honesty and integrity of the person in question.

Editorial Note
Mr Torpiano is welcome to express his views. MaltaToday has filed a counter protest in which it has denied that the above-mentioned story was published to slander the minister. The newspaper’s duty is to investigate and publish such stories and it is the right of the press to report on those occupying public posts which, in a democratic society, are reasonably open to any form of scrutiny.
MaltaToday also published the minister’s comments on the story, as press standards necessitate.
