Reference is made to the article which appeared in the MaltaToday of the 8 November 2009, under the heading ‘Bi Pjacir’. The said brothers Montebello refute the allegations made in their regard as totally unfounded.
I am enclosing a copy of an affidavit sworn before a Commissioner of Oaths on the 10 November 2009. The said brothers Montebello confirmed the following on oath.
“We the undersigned Jeffrey Montebello ID 2566772 (M) and Peter Montebello ID 645281 (M) categorically deny that we entered into an agreement for the payment of brokerage to Minister Tonio Fenech or that we ever discussed the payment of brokerage to Minister Tonio Fenech in respect of the sale of the Jerma Palace Hotel or any other assets that we own whether personally or n the name of companies of which we are shareholders.
“Furthermore we categorically deny that we said that we carried out works or engaged third parties to carry out works on property belonging to Minister Tonio Fenech in consideration of brokerage that was due to Minister Tonio Fenech or in view of any obligation we had towards Minister Tonio Fenech. This could not have been the case as no brokerage was due to Minister Fenech nor did we have any obligation towards Minister Fenech.”
