A new parliament come hell or high water

To take a leaf out of Mr Raphael Vassallo’s book (5 July, 2009) Lawrence Gonzi wanted a parliament, and hey presto, him and Austin Gatt left no doubt as to what their intention was all along. They wanted to build a parliament and that’s exactly what we’re going to have, whatever we say. It’s final. So it was decreed long ago!
Everybody can see that there is enough space to build an enormous parliament, but no, sorry, there’s not enough room for a theatre! Please let’s stop kidding ourselves and wasting the editor’s precious time and space. Mind my words, a parliament is going to be built and ready by next general election. Never mind the deficit, the recession, the high unemployment and the high water and electricity utilities, to name just a few. Never mind all that!
All that talk about the people being sovereign and the people’s representatives… go tell that to the marines, why don’t you!
