Gas price increase

LPG gas prices were hiked yesterday following a decision to remove the last tranche of subsidies on these products. A 10kg gas cylinder will increase to €9 from €6.40; 12kg cylinders will go up to €10.50 from €7.40; 15kg from €9.25 to €13; and the 25kg cylinder from €16.20 to €20.50.
“The subsidy on LPG products has been gradually removed over the last year, in anticipation of the opening of the internal market where more than one operator is expected to operate,” Enemalta said. The removal of subsidies, which cost government €600,000 in the last four months, was necessary to ensure fair competition, Enemalta said.
