Election campaign expenses and the law

An electoral commission spoken said: “As required by law, we should be publishing the list of all candidates who have submitted their expenses declarations to the Electoral Commission. From then onwards, members of the public can, if they so wish, come to our offices in Valletta and view the declaration.”
Is the Commissioner of Police invited or will he start investigating if he so wishes? The Prime Minister or Leader of the Opposition will not be asking him to investigate. It is up to him.
But everyone knows that the law has been broken. Will he be waiting for the law to be changed? It is useless beating around the bush. The law has been broken, action please.
I don’t think the present Prime Minister will order an inquiry in this case. Inquiries were the order of the day during the last and present administrations. Most of them fiascos. After the inquiries were finalised some of the main actors were either promoted or handed cushy jobs, with their salary exceedingly higher than the previous one.
The accused is innocent until proved guilty by a court of law, but someone must take them to the Maltese Court. The European Court of Justice comes at a later stage!
