The noise must be spent

This is a summary of recent news “… as from tomorrow, noise will be heavily taxed”. If only! This was indeed one of the adverts on local TV urging citizens to vote for the recent EU Parliament. I’m fully in favour of a proposed Noise Abatement Society seeing that time after time people’s complaints sum to be ignored. Every other week we read letters complaining about noise pollution, yet nothing seems to be done, on the part of the authorities concerned. How long must this go on? Main offenders are generally construction sites as well as open-air parties and “bombi” from feasts during the summer months. Who knows? Perhaps at last, we can really start enjoying some peaceful summer holidays without having to leave our shores! After all, it’s a proven fact that constant noise is psychologically frustration.
