The blame for the PN defeat

It is useless to start pointing fingers at individuals (‘After the defeat, the blame game starts’, 8 June). All the party is to blame for the defeat. Malta in the last 10 years has been governed by a bunch of opportunists who suck the wealth of the people at every chance they get. Every section of the people feels cheated at every turn.
The wardens have been twisted into a bunch of thieves who delight themselves in setting traps for unsuspecting motorists to fill the coffers of their bosses and keep themselves in a dirty job.
One of the ADT boards is now chaired by Joe Fenech Conti who also wears the cap of executive in Datatrak, that is surviving on traffic fines. No conflict of interest, of course.
MEPA has long been a hive of thieves who are made to push the right buttons according to the importance of the election. Last year’s general election saw permits galore being issued with impunity. The culmination of which was the Mistra story and the cover-up by the Prime Minister himself.
The Police has become the laughing stock of the whole country. Prisoners are found dead in their custody? How very convenient. The Commissioner holds a press conference and that’s that. The story dies.
The VAT office is cheated of millions and the police investigate, investigate, investigate. A soldier dies on exercise and enquiries galore are held. Who is to blame?
All of these departments fall under the umbrella of the Prime Minister – a prime minister who can pull a rabbit out of the hat at the last minute but who cannot stop all this corruption from Monday to Sunday.
Will the people be fooled once more at next general election? I doubt it.
Joseph Muscat has proved to be a gentleman even in victory whereas the Prime Minister has proved time and time again to be a useless talker not to be taken seriously. The people of Malta are learning to put their vote where their brain tells them to. Not where their forefathers told them to vote.
