I am writing with reference to M. Galea’s letter of the 30 July 2008, in defence of the army.
Please can somebody wake Mr Galea up and tell him that he is in Malta.
When I read his email, for a moment I thought he was referring to Iraq or Afghanistan, were the terrorists are, the angry mobs, the unexploded bombs, and he also forgot to mention the suicide attacks.
Come on Mr Galea, grow up. Maybe he does not live here, or he is asleep most of the time, and he does not remember the bus strike, or how boat people come into our harbours and wait for the Armed Forces to pick them up.
We in Malta thank God there is no terrorist among us – if there were they would drag us to the moon and nobody would notice.
Last word to you my friend: leave Mr Balzan do his job and you keep on training, because from your writing it looks like you have just joined the army and you are still very enthusiastic. I myself was in the army.
