AD congratulates government on positive Mideast message

Alternattiva Demokratika - The Green Party has congratulated the Maltese government on its initiative to open embassies in Ramallah and Tel Aviv.
Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, stated: “The opening of joint diplomatic representations, together with Cyprus, in Ramallah and Tel Aviv is doubly significant in that not only does Malta send out a clear message on the recognition of the ‘two state two peoples living peacefully side by side’ concept, but also sends out the strong political message that, in Mediterranean and international politics, Malta is actually working with a European mentality, by teaming up with other EU states on joint projects.”
Mark Scerri, Alternattiva Demokratika spokesperson on International Affairs, added: “Joint Maltese-Cypriot Embassies in cities like Ramallah and Tel Aviv, often theatres of bloodshed and suffering for the people, constitute a symbolic example of how the representatives of two different peoples, the Maltese and the Cypriots, can work together side by side on common projects, in mutual respect of each other’s identity.”
