NEWS | Wednesday, 4 June 2008 Labour’s Ta’ Xbiex committee left with one delegate less Sabrina Agius The Labour local committee of Ta’ Xbiex will have one delegate less at Labour’s leadership election on Thursday, because of the resignation of an official a year ago.
The local committee said it had asked the party to organise an extraordinary general conference for the election of a new delegate, but their request had not yet been acceded to. Committee members have complained their missing delegate has not been appointed while Ta’ Xbiex committee members have been working hard for the party. They said that while local council elections had gone and passed, the councillors’ section of the MLP had not been convened to appoint those councillors who are not yet party delegates. The Labour councillors’ section committee had to be convened in April. Labour deputy leader for party affairs Michael Falzon was informed in writing by a member of the committee back in April.
