Life threatening

There were 28 cases of life threatening diseases in children within the last six months. Of these, two cases of Meningitis, and three cases of Salmonellosis occurred in children who are less than a year old.
Dr Charmaine Gauci, Head of the Disease Surveillance Unit (DSU), told MaltaToday that the ages of the children who contracted one of the two diseases within the past six months ranged from toddlers to fourteen year old teenagers.
The localities from which the infected children hailed, these are Naxxar, San Gwann, Marsascala, Attard, Rabat, Xaghra, Qormi, Kercem, Munxar, Zurrieq, Ghaxaq, Ghajnsielem, Kalkara, Pembroke, Fgura, St Paul’s Bay, Paola, Nadur, Mtarfa, Siggiewi and Zejtun.
