Trio Saudade

Jazz Fringe
Synapse Trio with Arnette de Mille and Julien Daian Quintet with DJ Borz will be performing at the Palace Courtyard, 9pm. The music featured represents the diversity and eclecticism present in jazz music today, by presenting a variety of acts ranging from the purist to the more dancy, electro-jazz. Cardiac
Swiss hardcore band Cardiac will be playing two gigs in Malta. The first gig will be held at Poxx Bar, Paceville and they will be supported by Tendency Charge and Cypher. Entrance is at Lm3.50, which includes a free drink.
Their second gig will be held at Remedy Rock Club, Paceville and they will be supported by Slit and Inner Link. Entrance is Lm3.

Soul Drivers
Italian rock band Soul Drivers will be playing at Poxx Bar, Paceville, 10pm. They will be joined by Vinne Vintage. Entrance is at Lm3.50 (€8.15).

Beangrowers/Andre Camilleri’s Broken Hearts/Shostakovich’s Nightmare

Malta in Fantasy
Anastasia Ponyatovskaya is holding an exhibition at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, entrance to the Cotoner Hall. The main door is the corner with North Street and Mediterranean Street , Valletta. Opening hours from 10am till 7pm. All items will be on sale.

Body of Glass – After Caravaggio
Vince Briffa will be presenting a video and audio installation at the cellars of Auberge d’Italie. It forms part of ‘Caravaggio – quote… unquote’, an exhibition of contemporary art by five artists in five different spaces, curated by Dr. Keith Sciberras and co-ordinated by Davinia Galea.
The exhibition addresses the body as being simultaneously object and subject of experience. Echoing Caravaggio’s chiaroscuro idiom in its overall aesthetic, the video work concerns the human flesh and its reaction to harassment set in the contrasts of light and shade.
The exhibition is open between Monday and Friday (9.00am - 6.00pm) and Saturday (9.00am - noon).

Tila
A collective exhibition of paintings and sculpture at the Heritage Malta Head Office, Merchants Street, Valletta including artists Dominic Dimech, Astrid Zammit, Nadege Cassar, Josephine Cachia, Noel Petroni and Kevin Attard. Free Entrance. Open from 8am to 4pm. Until 31 August Layers Gallery G will be hosting an exhibition of Julian Calabrese’s paintings. The exhibition halls and the gallery shop (no 4, Sir Ugo Mifsud Street, Lija) are open to the public between 9am and 5pm on weekdays and 9:30am and 12:30pm on Saturdays.

Chinese Musical Instruments
Exhibited at the St James Cavalier Main Hall, the items on display are carefully-selected distinctive instruments of both ancient and modern China, which will provide visitors with a comprehensive view of Chinese instrumental culture.

Voyage & Voir: Travellers of the Grand Tour
Exhibition organised by Heritage Malta and the Comune Palazzolo Acreide as part of EU programme Interreg IIIA Italia – Malta, at the St Angelo Hall, Malta Maritime Museum, Vittoriosa. Open Monday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm.

New Adventures of the Baron Munchausen
Contemproary theatre performance by The Working Party (with members from Glasgow and Berlin) at the MITP, 9pm. Organised by the Summer University of Performing Arts.
