An incorrect analysis of a ‘writer’

I refer to David Friggieri’s ‘Fenomenologia di Daphne Caruana Galizia’ (21 March, 2010). Your subject is as articulate as a baboon on heat. Her arguments are often inane and ill-informed. I say this not from a position of loathing but from one of language. Her idiom, her language structure are not at all considered. They are rants of someone who is not so much angry as vindictive. Her language has this uncomfortable “Maltese English” about it as though she has not got the translation quite right. To give it credence by labeling it “classical punk, trash and destroy” undermines your judgment and elevates her to the podium of writer, which carries with it some form of responsibility which I am afraid to say she has not got. Her vocabulary arsenal is limited to smut and insult, her logic is flawed and her sense of timing is obvious.
So Mr Friggieri, I do not think that her power lies in writing about events but rather by a sensational form of commentary that causes no end of hurt to those she chooses to attack.
