President on the mend

The President of the Republic, Dr George Abela, appears to be on the mend, though he is expected to remain in hospital today and possibly also tomorrow.
Dr Abela was rushed to Mater Dei hospital on Thursday, after feeling unwell during the funeral service of entrepreneur Angelo Fenech in Qormi. From the outset, his condition was not considered serious.
The President is understood to have fainted on account of a drop in blood pressure caused by lack of proper hydration.
His condition has improved substantially since then, as the President has responded well to intravenous adminitsration of fluids.
Yesterday morning, Dr Abela was reported to be in high spirits, though his doctors advise that he still needs to rest a short while longer at Mater Dei hospital.
Further updates on the President’s condition will be released this morning by the Department of Information.
