Hunters complain about teachers’ anti-hunting remarks

A delegation from the Federation for Hunting & Conservation called on the education minister at her office in Santa Venera.
The FKNK officials voiced their concern regarding various complaints made by several members of the Federation in that some teachers, especially in primary schools but also in higher levels, are passing anti-hunting/trapping remarks during lessons which in turn influence the pupils to turn against their hunter/trapper parents.
The FKNK said the minister, accompanied by Dr Grace Grima, director for quality and standards in education and who is also responsible for the curriculum, said that teachers should stick to the lesson’s curriculum and refrain from making anti-hunting or anti-trapping remarks to their pupils during lessons.
The FKNK agreed to supply the ministry with a “teachers’ pack” explaining the conservation efforts of hunters and trappers in the natural environment. The FKNK officials further explained that upon the ministry’s approval the pack can be explained in more detail to teachers at seminars that can be organised for such purpose.
