NET TV, Radio 101 suffer audience haemorrhage haemorrhage

PN broadcaster Net TV has registered its biggest ever drop in audience since its inception in 1998, while the party’s radio station fell from 6% to just 4.2% in listenership since the first quarter of the year.
A Broadcasting Authority survey published yesterday revealed NET TV’s audience plummet to 4.62% from 8.5% over the same quarter last year, placing the channel amongst the least preferred station amongst the Maltese.
While Television Malta remained the most popular local TV station, with a 33% rating, Labour broadcaster One TV also registered a decrease in audience, however not as bad as its political rival NET TV.
One TV were second at 11.2% from 15.1% in April-June 2008. The ranking of the other local stations were: Smash (1.03%) Favourite (0.26%) and Education 22 (0.09%).
In radio, Bay Radio registered the biggest listenership at 23.2%, up from 16.2%. Next came Super One at 15.9%, down from 19.5% while Calypso Radio was unchanged at 10.4%.
The other stations in popularity rankings were RTK (8.9%) Radio Marija (8.4%) Magic Radio (6.6%) Radju Malta (6.3%).
