Azzjoni Nazzjonali leader and candidate Josie Muscat cast his vote at Marsascala Primary School yesterday morning, hoping for a better result than its 2008 showing.
“As long as we fare better than the general elections, we’re happy. The problem is if we do worse,” Muscat said.
As though preparing for defeat, Muscat played down the importance of these elections. “We’re keeping our feet on the ground. It’s not a general election, nothing will happen to the party in government. The most important thing is that the people we elect work in the national interest.”
In the last general elections, the anti-immigration party got 0.6% of national votes.
