Three men arraigned on theft, assault charges

Three men were arrested yesterday and arraigned on a series of charges. Raymond Borg, 39, from Valletta, was accused of having stolen a Ford Transit from a garage in Fgura, a Toyota Lit Ace in Birkirkara, a Toyota Dyna in Luqa, and a Subaro in Valletta. Prosecutors said Borg, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, was a recidivist. He was kept under preventive arrest in Corradino Correctional Facility.
George Cassar, 40, from Birkirkara, was accused of having accepted stolen goods of the value of not more than €2,330. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, suspended for six years.
Another man, Samir Lotfi Fahim Tawdrous, 42, from Hamrun, was accused of threatening another person with a knife and was charged with possession of the weapon and of breaching the public peace. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody at the Corradino Correctional Facility.
