The big fuss about advance voting

We hear complaints about setting up a date, one week before the actual elections for Members of the European Parliament in order to allow those who have to be absent on June 6!
Now we hear that no consultation took place with the Opposition regarding this proposal. Now we hear that when passed, this amendment is designed to place the PN at an advantage. How? Are the Nationalist voters voting on both May 31 and June 6? What gives the PL the idea that those coming from Brussels are all Nationalist voters? Maybe those attending the games in Cyprus are all Nationalists too? What validates the PL’s proposal to send over a ballot box to Cyprus so that the athletes could vote over there? Was that to give an advantage to Nationalist athletes as well?
What difference does it make whether one votes on May 31 or June 6? I actually find it most hilarious that one has to take an oath declaring that he/she will be absent on June 6, before allowed to vote on May 31.
In civilized countries one can vote on several days prior to an election as a matter of choice, not absolute necessity – it is called ‘Advance Polls’ – no fuss and no swearing, a simple picture identification is sufficient.
All other swearing is reserved for the other 364 days of the year, usually at those who try to complicate matters or apply the principles of democracy only if, and when it suits them!
