Air Malta closes Tunisia office for winter

Air Malta has temporarily shut down its bureau in Tunisia until 9 May, this newspaper has learnt.
Industry sources said the airline will not be using its office during the low season. No announcement was made by Air Malta.
A spokesperson for the airline yesterday confirmed that Air Malta was not operating any flights to Tunisia in winter, which is why it was closing its office for the season.
“Such office presence would constitute an unnecessary cost for the airline at this time. The airline’s representative office at the airport is however still open.”
The spokesperson said Air Malta opens and closes outstation offices “when and if the need arises… Such decisions are purely based on commercial considerations in view of the added traffic that such presence can generate.”
