Three cheers for Astrid Vella

What Astrid Vella explained in her impeccable coherent style during an interview on One TV on Monday 13 October must have ruffled a few brain cells in the environmental and health sectors, and hopefully urged most of our local Parliamentarians to go and hide their faces in shame: this possibility being only made available to those who actually do possess the luxury of a conscience, of course!
Ironically, in this age when fat kickbacks and mutual back-scratching seem to be the rule of the day, typically it is not the very individuals who are sustained in their relative comforts by our taxes that eventually embark on a pragmatic course of action and come to the fore to elucidate and to educate our mostly oblivious society on most matters that really matter.
Fortunately it is rare people, whose number is happily on the increase, of the ilk of Astrid Vella, who have personally nothing to gain except a string of angry enemies, who selflessly come forth to do the job without the added advantage of personal gain that most politicians normally aspire to acquire.
