AD says Pullicino Orlando must resign

Alternattiva Demokratika, the Green Party, yesterday called for the resignation of Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando, saying the Nationalist MP had misled the public when he was aware of his involvement in the development of a disco on his land.
AD’s spokesperson for sustainable development, Carmel Cacopardo, also a former investigating officer in the MEPA auditor’s office, said the auditor’s report on the Mistra case had not surprised him. “I’ve seen loads like it,” Cacopardo said.
“It is positive and encouraging that the Prime Minister immediately published the report to reinforce the recommendations by Joe Falzon, the audit officer. If his predecessor George Pullicino had acted in the same manner, the situation in MEPA would have been much better than it is today.”
Cacopardo said the report by the audit officer was nothing but the last word in the case. “There is also an ongoing police investigation and the role of the Tourism Authority that has to be cleared. I cannot understand how the MTA’s planning exporters did not give any weight to the environmental considerations of the projects it supports.
“The DCC board that issued the permit has resigned. Now it is time for the person who put pressure on the DCC members to issue an illegal permit, to resign.”
