6, 13 October
Kickass Plays
Four short plays by Jane Shepard, directed by George Mizzi under The Gozo Creative Club, Sannat, Gozo. The Gozo Creative Club will, as in previous performances, dissolve the barrier between performer and audience for the plays. Shepard’s dramas are intense and often funny explorations that tackle and challenge notions of femininity and female sexuality. ‘Friends of the Deceased’ will be held on Saturday 6 October. ‘Commencing’ and ‘The Last Nickel’ will be held on Saturday 29 September and Saturday 13 October. All performances start at 7:30pm and are for adults only. Wara L-Hajt tas-Sejjieh
Curtain Raiser presents an original Maltese musical at St James Cavalier on local plants and animals with concept, design, production and direction by Patrick Vella, written by Tyrone Grima with music by Abigail Brown. Done in collaboration with the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment, it’s a family-friendly show that sets out to educate on environmental issues. On 6 October (Notte Bianca) there will be five shows at: 6:00pm, 7:00pm, 8:30pm, 9:30pm and 10:30pm and on 7 October there will be two at: 5:30pm and 8:00pm. NV live in Bugibba
NV (Nikki Vukovic) will be playing an unplugged set at Fat Harry’s Pub in Bugibba on Saturday, which will be followed by a launch concert for her debut album, with full band. NV has just released a new single, Out of Love, which can be heard on all local radio stations

Official Reunion Gig, Buskett Roadhouse
Legendary 90s outfit reforms with new single So Alive. This Saturday, at the Buskett Roadhouse, Ray Mercieca, Gino Micallef, Adam Bonello, Tony (gaggu) Grixti and Antoine Faure reform for their official reunion gig at the Buskett Roadhouse,Rabat.Tickets: Lm2.50 (EUR4.65) from Muddy Waters, St Julians; The Pub and D’Amato Record Store, Valletta; Tickets on sale also at the door. DJ Mike Bugeja will be playing before and after the band’s set.

World Press Photo
World Press Photo visits Malta for the first time, exhibiting a series of award-winning pieces of photojournalism taken over 2006 at St James Cavalier. Among the 170 photos on display will be Spencer Platt’s top-prize winning photograph shot in Lebanon just a day after the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. Founded in Amsterdam in 1955, the non-profit, annual travelling exhibition aims to push photojournalism to the cultural forefront, raising awareness and awarding the most powerful and poignant press photography of the year. for more info check out: www.worldpressphoto.org

An exhibition of original masterpieces of Caravaggio, organised by Heritage Malta and Romartificio Eventi d’Arte. At the Salon in the National Museum of Archaeology, Valletta. Open Monday to Sunday from 9.00am - 7.00pm (last admission at 6.30pm).

30 December
Malta’s Mediterranean Trilogy: Bread, Oil and Wine
An exhibition organised by Heritage Malta as part of the EU programme Trimed. At the Ta’ Kola Windmill, Xaghra Gozo. Open Monday to Sunday from 9.00am - 5.00pm (last admission at 4.30pm).
