THE Alley Revamped
8 September

A free night of live music and DJing will commemorate the relaunching of The Alley, Paceville as an alternative metal bar. DJ Nigel will be spinning rock and metal classics, Abysmal Torment will give a live performance an DJ Skat will cap the night off with a selection of classic and new underground music. All spirits will be at 75c for the entire night and the first 80 people to buy a drink will get a free Pestilent t-shirt.

An exhibition of drawings by Gilbert Calleja, Jesmond Vassallo and Robert Zahra at the Contemporary Hall of the National Museum of Fine Arts, Valletta. The works are of a semi-collaborative nature and concentrate on the nude, studied from life. The works (on paper) represent a small selection from a large number of studies that the three artists undertook over the past year. Tattoo
Actinghouse presents a Dea Loher domestic drama directed by Irene Christ at St James Cavalier. ‘Tattoo’ is a searing portrayal of the disintegration of a family and of a young woman’s struggle to forge her own identity and free herself from the shadow of a domineering and manipulative father. Loher uses poetic language to contrast the harsh reality of sexual child abuse. Cast includes Maria Buckle, Sarah Suda, Stefan Cachia Zammit, Simone Ellul and Nick Bonanno. Chinese Musical
Instruments
Exhibited at the St James Cavalier Main Hall, the items on display are carefully-selected distinctive instruments of both ancient and modern China, which will provide visitors with a comprehensive view of Chinese instrumental culture.

The brother-sister duo will be exhibiting urban-themed photographs and paintings at the 2-22 wine bar at Marsamxett, Valletta. The exhibition will be the first in a series, as different artists will be on display each following month at the venue.

Courtesy of The Ministry for Tourism and Culture a second (and final) concert by Maestro Ricardo Muti will be held at St John’s Co-Cathedral. Starts at 8:30pm.

Jyosna la Trobe
Internationally-acclaimed singer-songwriter from New Zealand will be playing at St James Cavalier, accompanied by pianist Erik Azzopardi and bass guitarist Nick Morales. La Trobe’s music is a unique mix of Indian sounds adapted to Western styles. Concerts start at 8:00pm and tickets are at Lm3. Booking at St James, call 21223200.
