Chetcuti out of XFM deal

Sandro Chetcuti, the disgraced GRTU official who is facing charges on attempted murder, has pulled out of his partnership in the acquisition of popular radio station XFM and has passed on the sale to another company.
The transfer of the deal was made soon after Chetcuti was released from prison and granted bail by the Magistrates’ Court.
Last month, MaltaToday revealed that Sandro Chetcuti had bought XFM, but his arrest for the violent attack on GRTU’s director-general Vince Farrugia has reportedly forced him to find a new buyer for X-FM’s Broadcasting Authority’s operating license and studio equipment as quick as possible.
Sources have told this paper that as soon as Chetcuti was released from prison and granted bail he immediately sought to find a new buyer for XFM.
He reportedly approached the owners of another radio station, who initiated talks with the Broadcasting Authority, who in turn warned that the law does not permit them to own two stations.
The negotiations have led to a new company being set up under a different name while the BA reportedly looking into the matter and examining the legal implications into such action.
