Cassola caught in Khartoum

Alternattiva Demokratika’s EU and International Affairs spokesperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola, is one of 70 EU election observers currently stranded in Khartoum, Sudan, because of the ash could.
The 70-strong observer mission has been monitoring the five-day election polling in the biggest African country, after a quarter of a century without any form of elections.
The observers were supposed to be back in their home countries yesterday but the Icelandic volcanic eruption has blocked the whole contingent in the Sudanese capital.
The contingent is lodged in a hotel in Khartoum managed by Malta’s Corinthia Group.
