Another incredible PN spin!

“Is-Socjalisti Ewropej jivvutaw kontra l-interess ta’ Malta” (“Europeans Socialists vote against Malta’s interest”) was the banner headlines on the front page of In-Nazzjon on Monday 29 March. Simply incredible!
They had the cheek to print the above headline when their own party leader and the Prime Minister had abstained from voting in the European Council when it was his duty to vote against the proposed Frontex rules on illegal immigration in order to protect Malta’s interest.
Why did the PN then decide to print the said heading? The answer is quite simple. It’s because Labour’s three MEPs voted against the proposed rules in the European Parliament, even if the majority of Socialist MEPs voted in favour. Hence, Labour’s MEPs voted to defend Malta’s interest, while PN MEPs and their own party leader and PM shied away from their duty to defend Malta’s interest on illegal immigrants, when they should have defied the EPP MEPs and leaders of the government and voted against the proposed Frontex rules.
This is the kind of spin which the PN media is renowned for. No wonder the Nationalist media (Net TV, Radio 101, Il-Mument and In-Nazzjon) keep getting such low percentages whenever surveys are conducted among readers, viewers and listeners!
