Corruption of the judiciary

Your correspondent writing in MaltaToday on 20 December, on the collusion resulting in the former Chief Justice’s case, certainly hit the nail on the head. It seems to be a popular belief.
There has been a general rumour, rife and rampant, that because of the irregularity, the accused could not possibly brief the same legal firm involved in the case, and had to brief another who, although reputedly clever, belongs to another league in the hierarchy of expected success in the case.
It is widely believed that retaining the original professionals would have given the offender a better chance of success if this were possible.
