Clarification

In the report ‘Medicines in Malta 40% more expensive’ (9 August) it was written that the only drug available locally for the treatment of osteoporosis is Fosamax (Alendronate). However, it has since been drawn to our attention that this is not the case: there are in fact other drugs, including generic varieties, available in Malta. The mistake, which arose from a misinterpretation of data, is regretted.

It was incorrectly pointed out that Toni Carabott, in the report ‘Maltese fisherman angry over bickering with Italy’ was the president of the fishing cooperative. Carabott is no longer president of this cooperative.
