Now that the results for the local council elections are known, I feel that I must thank all those Marsaskala residents who for the fifth consecutive time, have appreciated all that I have done during these years for the benefit of our locality.
I must also thank the mayor and councillors including those who did not contest this time round and those candidates who were not elected in the last election. I also congratulate the newly elected councillors from both parties with whom I look forward to work for the next four years on behalf of the Marsaskala residents.
Thanks also to my family, friends, members of the PN local committee, local council staff, ministers and parliamentary secretaries who supported me and helped me for all these years. I congratulate also PN councillors Sandro Gatt and Jesmond Mugliett.
As I did in the last twelve years, I will commit myself to ensure that all the projects earmarked for Marsaskala, either by the local council or by the central government are executed in their respective timings. Such projects include: the new local council offices which includes police station and other offices; the new Family Park were the project started almost two years ago and hopefully will start construction once MEPA permits are granted; a new playing field; surfacing of the remaining residential roads.
During the coming weeks, I will do my utmost to see better refuse collection. I would like to see a cleaner promenade, free from garbage, food leftovers and dog litter. As a councillor, I will be stressing to use our tools better to reduce daily over-speeding in certain streets, littering and curb vandalism in public places.
All this and more can be achieved if we just keep in mind one objective: the wellbeing of Marsascala and its residents.
John Baptist Camilleri
Local councillor (PN)
