What goes around, comes around

In trying to play down the massive defeat suffered by his party in government, GonziPN pleads that his government had to take unpopular decisions “for the good of the country”. He asks the Maltese to have patience because this is only the first year of his five-year term.
He forgets that the same thing happened to Alfred Sant in the 1996-1998 period. But there was no patience to be afforded then. Ironically the PN then made a political football of the prices of utilities, which were nowhere near what they are today! Gonzi should remember that what goes around comes around.
He claims credit for bringing down the deficit. But who pushed this same deficit to astronomical proportions, at our expense? Maybe the Prime Minister has forgotten that he won the last election by the skin of his teeth, by riding on a wave of undeliverable promises, blatant half-truths, and mudslinging.
It seems the Maltese have now learnt to sort out the wheat from the chaff, and GonziPN has been found wanting.
