New Plane

Exhbition by Berlin-based artist Tatiana Echeverri Fernandez at Malta Contemporary Art, 8, Off Racehorse Street, Marsa. Opening Hours: Wednesday – Sunday 16:00 to 20:00. In this new body of work by Tatiana Echeverri Fernandez, two elements - glass and paper - come together precisely to propose multitudes and unpredictable spaces which are firmly grounded in the dialectic of sculpture and imbued with a sense of weightlessness and architectural fragility. These assemblages make use of a loose aesthetic full of physical contradictions. Abrupt textural shifts define planes and create parallel geometric spaces where light is drawn out through reflection and shadow, marking the subtlety of this composed architecture within the object and the image. Unstable bindings and reflections of ruin are created through articulated form and incidental gesture. Interiority and exteriority become one and the other. A spatial disorientation occurs proposing uncertain realities and new potentialities.
