Your water and electricity bill explained online!

The Malta Utility Bill Calculator, an online tool that calculates and explain the latest utility bills at the click of a button, has been launched by New Bridge Software.
The online calculator computes and compares both the new rates and the old rates at the same time, so that consumers can clearly see how much they are paying on the new system when compared with the old rates. A percentage difference is reported for ease of comparison.
Customers who wish to check out their tariffs can do so by logging in on www.mybill.com.mt. The service is provided completely free of charge.
To use the calculator, a customer can simply enter the period covered by the bill and the units consumed, then click the Calculate button. The results will be shown immediately.
The calculator can also handle triple-phase meter rates, commercial and industrial rates including reduced rates, rates calculated using both kWh and kVAh types of billing, day and night rates, and maximum demand charges.
For residential customers, the number of persons in the household must also be indicated.
“Tahe new utility tariffs have taken Malta by surprise, especially since they are implemented backwards as from October 2008. We have heard many calculations and estimates over the past couple of months, but I think the best way is to consider each case separately. It is only fair that consumers have an easy way to know how much they will be paying, see how the working is done, and compare it to what they would have paid had the rates remained as before,” said Sinclair Calleja, founder and CEO of New Bridge Software Ltd, an e-commerce and back-office solution provider.
“I believe that this service will be very useful to the Maltese utility consumers, and will help sort out some question marks as to how the bills are calculated and as to how much the bills went up,” Calleja said.
