MEPA and aesthetics

It seems MEPA does not respect aesthetics in village cores. When building is taking place in a village core, certain regulations should be followed for the sake of aesthetics, but it seems that MEPA makes the rules and breaks them!
Around ten years ago we weren’t given permission from MEPA to install aluminium apertures for the reason that, since our house was situated in the village core, we had to install wooden apertures so that aesthetics are kept. Although we went through a lot of expense, we abided by the regulations.
Now a telecommunications antenna has been mounted on a house of character in Lija’s village core, where the streets are very narrow. This antenna can only be described as a monstrosity and an eyesore – and there it is – right in the village core!
This is a big sin against aesthetics. I cannot understand how MEPA gives the green light for such a thing to happen and not even a permit is needed. A notification should have been fixed on the façade of the house where the antenna was mounted for the neighbours to see, but everything was done behind our back. It seems that certain people are above the law and common citizens have no rights to object in this so called democratic country.
I appeal to MEPA to remove this antenna immediately if it wants us to believe that it respects aesthetics.
